Daily Prayer

Called by you, in faith, I have sought with my life to do noble things, for your Church and your Kingdom, as my honor to you. Yet, I have fallen so very, very short, O Lord. The plans were many. The desires were proper. But my efforts have seemed in vain.

Yet, within the depths of my yearning soul, I know that you have not forsake me. From my seeds will eventually come forth a rich harvest, in your appropriate time. Through my endeavors – rich in joy and pain – success and failure – your realm will ever-increasingly break forth, as you draw the world back unto yourself.

The life of your Jesus – born in that stable, and crucified upon that cross – was not a life lived in vain. Nor will be my years of stumbling faith, nor the lives of those faithful who strove before me, are with me now, and those who are yet to come.

In indebtedness for the gift of your son, given to all; take my meager life as a gift of service to your will.

Amen.
