Daily Prayer

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

As we all move closer to the celebration of the Christ Child, we bring our confessions before you, our God. For we live in a world that is ravaged by our self-inflicted wars, and our greed to cling to the riches of our lives. While we plan lavish Christmas meals, we close out the starving children of yours from our minds. While we franticly rush here and there for the perfect gift for others, we fail to invest in the perfect gift of Peace – your gift for the world, and for each of us.

Heal us, precious Savior, from the demons of self-indulgence, covetousness of that which is not ours, and of our own self-righteousness which blinds us to the virtuous labor you would have us be about.

Heal us. Cast out our transgressions; against you and our neighbor, whoever that may be; wherever they may be.

Heal us; making us whole again, in the eyes of Jesus, the Bethlehem Light.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Amen
